Kate grew up in Brooklyn, NY and is finishing up a degree in Environmental + Urban studies at Bard College.
She’s worked on multiple farms–first at a small family dairy, as well as at a homestead style farm and various veggie operations. She once transported 6 lambs in her minivan! Kate loves animals, adventure, sports, the outdoors, and sharing her passion for farming with others!
Lily hails from New Jersey, the Garden State. While vacationing at the beach every summer and visiting the Vineyard often during her childhood, she learned to appreciate and love the island environment and agriculture. She is a Senior at Montclair State University where she studies nutrition and urban agriculture. When she has down time, you can find Lily on the beach, home brewing kombucha, or playing her guitar. She is excited and thrilled to be living on the Vineyard for the summer and sharing her love of the outdoors with all of her campers.
Lauren is from New Canaan, CT, and will be attending the University of Richmond this fall. Lauren grew up vacationing on MV and has worked for TFI for the past few summers. She is excited to bring her experience with coaching youth field hockey and years of experience on the farm to this summer’s programs.
Allie Rubin was born in Westfield, NJ but now lives in NYC. She just graduated from Franklin and Marshall college where she studied Studio Art and Psychology. In the fall, she will be exploring the world of graduate school at Columbia University to pursue her lifelong goal of becoming a therapist. When Allie is not at school, she will be continuing her rubber duck collection by traveling the world to find the most unique rubber friends. You can find her playing racket sports with her friends and eating ramen. She has been coming to MV since she was 2 years old and is excited to be working at the FARM Institute this summer!
Meg is from Duxbury, MA. She is going to be a senior at University of Vermont and is majoring in nutrition and food sciences. She loves to sail, hike, bike, and do anything outside. Meg has lots of experience teaching kids. She has taught sailing for six years in Duxbury in Vermont. This summer, she is excited to teach kids about nutrition and living a healthy/happy life! Meg’s favorite foods are any fruits and veggies. She loves making smoothies. Her favorite animal is any kind of cat. She has a 15 pound Maine Coon Cat named Bailey!
Savannah is from Duxbury, MA. She just graduated from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont where she studied Environmental and Religious studies. During her time in Vermont, she became certified in permaculture design. Her post grad plans include sailing, gardening, and hanging out with her dog Baloo. Savannah has experience at an organic veggie farm as a teacher and farmer. She loves to connect her community to the local food system.
Dani is a Vermont native and mountain girl. She grew up on a 5th generation dairy farm with 300+ head of cows! She is currently attending UVM as a dietetics and nutrition major. Her previous experience includes working as a camp counselor at Smuggler’s Notch Resort, where she hiked the green mountains and taught kids about the nature and environment in Vermont. She loves using her surroundings and exploring through her hobbies which include snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and mountain biking.
Emily is a native of San Francisco, CA, and is so happy to be living near a (warm) ocean this summer! She currently studies Environmental / Conservation Policy at Middlebury College in Vermont, where she plays ultimate frisbee and spends ample time hammocking. Emily grew up in a house full of rescue cats and dogs, but has always dreamed of adopting a black piglet – she can’t wait for Piggy Sue’s babies to arrive! Emily worked for multiple summers as a counselor at an outdoor adventure camp, and has lots of childcare experience. She spent the 2014-2015 school year living abroad in Bolivia and Guatemala, interning at an NGO that builds clean cookstoves and solar ovens, and at another centered on female empowerment and education. She is passionate about sustainable agriculture and alternative energy, and really excited to explore these interests with campers! Emily’s hobbies include running, biking, reading, jamming out to music, and snacking. Her idol is the comedian Louis C.K.
Naomi grew up spending summers in Katama and loves the island more than anywhere else in the world. (She’s very proud that she’s a master of backroads and never gets lost on the island). She has worked on multiple farms and a flower shop in Brooklyn, and loves spending time outside. She is currently getting a degree in History at Barnard College in New York City where she does lots of yoga and works on her college’s radio station. She feels pretty connected to sheep, her spirit vegetable is an artichoke, and if it was socially acceptable, she’d spend everyday eating oysters on the beach in Menemsha.
Kate grew up in Natick, MA with Chappy as a second home. She is now a Junior studying Dietetics at the University of Vermont. After college Kate hopes to have her own farm filled with goats and veggies. Kate can often be found in the kitchen drinking coffee and burning toast.
Charlie grew up in Farmington, CT and then spent the past two years farming in Arizona. He loves to cook with farm fresh ingredients, make people laugh, and use lots and lots of hot sauce on his food.
