Dear FARM Friend,
It gives me great
pleasure, on behalf of The FARM Institute (TFI), Board, Staff,
and critters, to start off the New Year by saying a mooooving THANK
YOU to all of you who have given to our 2007-2008 annual
appeal. As of February 1, 2008 The FARM has raised $145,424.
With your belief in the value of our mission you have begun to
take the initiative of bringing us closer to shifting the balance
between relying on original founders to a broader community base
for the future sustainability of The FARM.
A special warm thanks also goes out to the dedicated and passionate volunteers from our FARM Family Association and Katama Neighbors who worked so hard to help raise these funds.
As you know,
in the spring of 2005, TFI acquired the lease of Edgartown owned
Katama Farm. We have since been
entrusted with the stewardship of preserving this property. With
your support, TFI has begun transforming the land into a viable
working farm and education center that has been widely lauded by
the community for its vast improvement.
We continually ask, “How will our children love and protect themselves and the earth in the future?” This year with your generous donations we will be able to provide those answers by continuing to provide year round programs such as Farmers in Training, Wee Farmers, WISP, FARM Camp, school field trips and TFI’s after-school. Through our programs we will connect over a thousand Island children to the land and linking them to one another. These connections teach generosity, patience and respect. This is how we create a healthier culture.
While we are enormously gratified by the dollars raised, we are still hoping that we can increase the number of individuals participating to ensure that The FARM will be able to operate for generations yet to come.
