The Meals in the Meadow is
to be an annual fundraising event for The FARM Institute. Under a see-through tent in the middle of the fields of Katama Farm, guests will experience a casual yet elegant atmosphere and enjoy a catered gourmet meal. The dishes will be created by a collaboration of Martha's Vineyard's top chefs using local products raised and harvested by Martha's Vineyards farmers. Before dinner is served, there will be an open bar, horsd'oeuvres and a silent auction. To keep guests entertained and welcomed throughout the night there will be a dynamic presenter, music, dancing under the stars and a live Grooving Mooving Auction. The Grooving Mooving Auction will consist of art projects created specifically for Meals in the Meadow. These farm inspired drawings will then be auctioned off in the playful form of "Pick a chick", "Pen a pig", "Endow a cow", and "Endorse a horse". This auction will be a short but entertaining process of raising money to support The FARM's Institute's mission and visions.
The Meals in the Meadow is gathering a tremendous amount of support and enthusiasm from the local community. However, it is still in the development process. Keeping in mind that this is to be our first fundraising effort, we are working out the details and setting our goals for what we want to achieve. Already we have secured services and commitments for most of the logistical needs such as: rentals, caterers, decors, designers (of posters and mailings), etc.
With what we have now we are confident of being able to pull off an exciting and memorable evening. Yet, we are still looking for support in the form of the chair people who know people and can help underwrite, sponsor and target our guest list and potential donors.
