The FARM Institute Invites Island residents for a weekend Shingling Party:
Saturday and Sunday November 19-20, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Opportunity to be an integral part of The FARM Institute’s classroom…forever!

Edgartown, MA (November 10th, 2005) — The FARM Institute at Katama Farm is having a Shingling Party on Sunday and Saturday November 19th & 20th, 10:00am to 4:00pm. Island residents and visitors of all ages are invited to Katama Farm, 14 Aero Road, for two days of shingling the FARM Institute’s new classroom, and horse and cow barn restoration. The Shingling Party will not only be a chance to meet, eat and work with Martha Vineyard’s residents, but an event where helping hands can learn some new skills working with expert shinglers and carpenters.

The FARM Institute encourages people to bring food that can be shared with six other people. Please bring your hammers and paint brushes if you have them. Please bring your hammers and paint brushes. Activities for the younger ones will be provided by Melinda Rabbit Defeo who is the FARM Institute’s Education Program Manager and teaches the weekly after school and fieldtrip programs at The FARM Institute.

The Farm Institute is offering island residents an opportunity to be a part of the classroom, literally. Adults and children who come out will also be given the opportunity to write their names on the shingles and be a part of the classroom forever.

Scheduled Shingling Party Activities Include:

  • Shingling Classroom and Horse Barn
  • Cow Barn Cleaning
  • Good Eatin
  • Activities for children (planting daffodils bulbs)
