Edgartown, MA—Deemed 'The High Priest of the Pasture' by the New York Times and profiled in depth by Michael Pollan in his best-selling book, The Omnivore's Dilemma - Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm in Swoope, VA will speak at the New Ag Hall in West Tisbury, MA on Friday, November 17 at 7pm.

Joel, a sustainable farming pioneer and a grass-farmer libertarian, is an ardent, vocal proponent of bio-regionalism and seasonality. His talk "Holy Cows & Hog Heaven" (named after one of his self-published books) will focus on scaleable farming and local meat production on Martha's Vineyard.

As local as this evening will be - the issues: 'who, what, why, how & where' of the food that comes to our island tables and feeds our families, are universal.

Joel Salatin, ever intriguing + ever quotable, sums up his own success as a small, beyond-organic-farmer who unstuck himself AND his customers from the centralized industrial food system: "We're making a good living on a small farm...BUT...we're not sacrificing the ecology, or the environment, or social issues, in order to do it."

Please join us for an inspiring evening with Joel, one of America's premier practicing philosopher/farmers of sustainable LOCAL food.
