Howard W. Miller - Board of Directors

Education:

Present Position:

  • Principal in professional association of de Benedictis, Miller & Blum, P.C. with offices in Boston, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and Of Counsel to Law Offices of Marcia Mulford Cini on Martha's Vineyard

State Public Service:

  • Assistant Attorney General to Edward W. Brooke primarily responsible for litigation resulting from activities of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, Civil Service Commission, Department of Revenue and Banking Commission. Also served as special counsel to Givernor Volpe relative to receivership proceedings of New Haven Railroad and eventual merger into Penn Central Railroad. 1966-67
  • Assistant Attorney General to Elliot L. Richardson, Chief of Appellate Section of Criminal and Civil Divisions responsible for direction of most criminal trials and all criminal and administrative appeals including defending of constitutionality of first Racial Imbalance statute enacted by state legislature before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and United States Supreme Court. 1967-69
  • Chairman, State Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. 1969-72
